Medical Waste Containers
Hey guys!
I started testosterone injections four weeks ago, and only just now started injecting at home. I need a medical waste container to dump my needles and syringes in, but the ones I’m finding online are really expensive. I can’t really afford a proper one without going to my mom about it (and I’m yet to talk to her about starting T—it’s a work in progress)…
What have y’all used as medical waste containers? Do you have a separate trash bin for them, or have you made your own? Tips would be lovely. Thanks!
I’ve heard of a couple people using a sturdy household container with a tight fitting lid and clearly labeling it SHARPS in block letters on all sides. Some recommended containers are detergent bottles, bleach bottles, two liter bottles, plastic juice containers, and coffee cans if the lid is securely taped to the can. Try to avoid using glass containers or plastic milk jugs. The glass can break easily and spill its contents and the milk jugs have very thin plastic that sharps can easily poke through and the lids aren’t usually very secure.
